Jon recently stayed at The Old Laravale School again, and this is what he had to say ...
"I should start by saying I am a frequent user of AirBnb and this has to be one of my favourite properties.
This is the second time (in 3 months) I have stayed with Wendy at Laravale, (which should tell you something), initially with a group of 4 friends on a long weekend of hiking and exploring, and more recently I was lucky enough to come back with a friend for a further 2 night stay.
With each stay we had a great time and the house was spotless with quality little finishing touches touches, the bread, milk, cheese and jam, plump towels quality and more.
The house has a real welcoming feel (which Wendy has created), from the tastefully classic furniture and kitchen to the outside Rotunda with gas BBQ and a brazier for winter to the airy front light balcony area.
The location is perfect for doing as much or as little as you want to do!!!!! and is so relaxing, just kicking back and taking in nature and at night a galaxy of stars with no big city pollution.
First trip, we hiked 3 plus hours to the Lower portals for fantastic swim in the stunning waterfalls and pools, we also hiked 6 plus hours to Larapinta Falls and stunning location that emerges from the rainforest, and you expect David Attenborough to pop out at any time.
On our most recent trip, we hiked the the top of Mt Maroon (not for the faint hearted), take at least 3 litres of water as hike can take (dependent on your fitness) potentially 6 hours, we did it in 3 with a few stops most notably at the summit to enjoy the fantastic 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and stunning scenery.
You must fit in a visit to the Rathdowney pub, friendly people, cold beer and decent pub grub
We will be back and not if BUT when is the only question
Thanks again Wendy for make "both" my recent visits, so easy, relaxing and enjoyable in staying in a beautifully tastefully renovated home in fantastic part of the world.
Kind Regards
Jon"
